The sensor string always communicates over its native digital 2Wire protocol. It can connect directly to a compatible GEOprecision minilogger in a stainless-steel or POM housing. Alternatively, an OSX node Type 410 converts 2Wire to SDI-12, allowing the string to work with any SDI-12-capable logger; GEOprecision LTX loggers are optimised for this setup.
A standard Type 410 string supports up to 50 sensors, with up to 300 available as an option. Individual strings are normally up to 100 m; 250 m or longer strings are available on request. The complete line or star network may contain up to 500 m of cable without cable-related loss of measurement accuracy.
Type 410 uses Bluetooth Low Energy for local configuration and diagnostics with BlueShell or the browser-based BLX Dashboard on PCs and compatible Android devices. Bluetooth is the local service connection; measurement data is passed to the logger over SDI-12. The older 433 MHz converter generation uses FG2 Shell for Windows and is documented only in the Legacy download area.
Yes. Compatible sensors using the GEOprecision 2W bus can be combined in one string.
Direct logger variants are available for 433 MHz or 915 MHz operation. Typically, 433 MHz configurations are used in Europe, Asia and Africa, while 915 MHz configurations are used in the Americas and other permitted regions. Local radio regulations and the intended country of operation always determine the correct version.
The electronics inside the sealed housing are encapsulated in a dedicated casting compound. Measuring points are over-moulded for long-term protection.
Yes. Replace it with a logger of the same compatible type. The parameter set can be exported from the old device and imported into the new device with the matching GEOprecision software. Calibration data stays at the digital sensor nodes.
In overwrite mode, logging continues and the oldest records are replaced. In stop mode, recording pauses until the memory is cleared. The configured mode should be checked before deployment.
A radio signal can be too strong in the immediate near field. Increase the distance between logger and USB dongle or use a short USB extension cable.
Use the exact battery type specified for the logger. The integrated holder allows replacement without soldering and, depending on the logger configuration, may support an AA-format 1.5 V alkaline or lithium cell, or a 3.6 V lithium-thionyl-chloride cell. For cold environments, the specified lithium type is normally required. Never reverse polarity.
A tablet must run a full supported Windows version and provide a USB host connection for the wireless dongle. Windows RT is not supported by the legacy software.
Raise both logger and dongle where possible, use a USB extension to move the dongle away from the computer and consider a suitable directional or area antenna.
The electronics are specified for operation down to -40 °C. While test deployments down to -50 °C showed no hardware issues, temperatures below -40 °C may affect crystal oscillators, potentially compromising measurement accuracy and communication reliability. No irreversible physical damage is expected down to approximately -55 °C.
